Concussion Research Rounds: A Concussion Prevention Program for Older Adults

Abstract: Building off the Brain Waves program for school-aged children, a concussion prevention program was developed to inform older adults about concussion and how to prevent getting injured. In this presentation, an overview of the educational program will be provided, as well as feedback from participants who participated in the program during the development phase.
Bio: Brendan Smith is a graduate student at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Originally from Victoria, British Columbia, Brendan received an undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of British Columbia before joining the BC Injury Research and Prevention Unit at the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute. It was during this time that he got involved in the Brain Waves program and wanted to explore possible ways to bring health information to different communities through educational programs.
