Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is increasingly recognized not as a single, time-limited event, but as a condition that may affect an individual’s cognition, mental health, physical functioning, and daily living over months, years, or even a lifetime.

The National Academies’ Forum on Traumatic Brain Injury, in conjunction with the Brain Injury Association of America, will host a webinar to discuss opportunities to strengthen clinical care, improve access to resources, and better align health and social services with the needs of people living with chronic TBI symptoms. The webinar will highlight actionable strategies that health care professionals, policymakers, advocates, caregivers, and individuals with lived experience can take to improve outcomes and quality of life for the millions of Americans affected by brain injury.

Registration for the webinar is free.

Kristen Dams-O’Connor, Director of the Brain Injury Research Center of Mount Sinai and Jack Nash Professor and Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Rehabilitation and Human Performance at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, will lead the discussion on the incidence and prevalence of chronic outcomes following TBI, evidence-based approaches to improving care for people living with long-term symptoms.
