In an exciting opportunity to coincide with the first-ever NFL game to be held in Australia in September 2026, the International Sports Concussion Conference (ISCC) 2026 will bring together local and international experts in sport-related concussion. The event will deliver a two-day conference program along with one day of workshops addressing the prevention, detection, and management of concussion – from cutting-edge scientific enquiry through to pitch-side athlete care – with learnings relevant from elite collision sports through to junior participation, which includes more than one million participants nationally.
The conference will run for three days around the week of the NFL game at the MCG, with workshops on Monday 7 September and a two-day conference from Tuesday 8 to Wednesday 9 September. This will be the first international, multidisciplinary concussion conference ever held in Australia. It will draw together interstate and international participants working across multiple science and health specialties (sports and exercise medicine, neurology, neurosurgery, general practice, physiotherapy and allied health, neuropsychology, paediatrics, psychology and mental health, as well as educators, students, and athletes). This meeting will appeal to scientists, researchers and clinicians from neighbouring countries as an opportunity they do not usually have. We have already received interest from key personnel travelling from Canada, Europe, and America, and we anticipate approximately 200–300 attendees.
This will be an in-person-only conference, beginning with workshops focusing on evidence-informed concussion interventions, followed by two full days of keynote addresses, invited symposia, oral sessions, posters and interactive events.
Abstract submissions
Abstract submissions are invited from professionals working in the field of concussion: oral platform presentations, 5-minute Blitz presentation, and/or posters. Abstracts covering concussion in sports across multiple sciences (basic science, epidemiology, prevention) and health specialties (sports and exercise medicine, neurology, neurosurgery, general practice, rehabilitation, allied health, mental health and neuropsychology) are encouraged.
