Kate Gilliland
MSc. student
Kate Gilliland is an MSc student in Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa and a member of the Neurotrauma Impact Science Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Blaine Hoshizaki. Her research focuses on concussion biomechanics, head impact reconstruction, and finite element modelling to better understand brain injury risk in sport and motor vehicle collisions. She recently presented her work, “Influence of Head Position and Neck Stiffness on Concussion Risk in Rear-End Vehicle Collisions,” at the Canadian Concussion Network’s Concussion Research Rounds on concussion and motor vehicle collisions. Kate is interested in connecting with others working to advance head injury prevention, safety standards, and long-term brain health.
