I am a biomechanist whose research focuses on the kinematics underlying brain trauma and how impacts translate into tissue loading. My group studies how individuals in sport and daily life anticipate, respond to, and protect their head during potential impacts—for example, body checking in ice hockey, bicycle falls, and slips. We also investigate how body-first impacts and non-head-contact falls may contribute to brain injury, with the goal of informing better strategies for brain protection.
