RFP: Validation of Mental Health Apps

Opportunity Information

The Mental Health Commission of Canada, in collaboration with the Organization for the Review of Care and Health Apps (ORCHA), is funding assessments for five Canadian mental health apps.

This opportunity is particularly aimed at smaller or emerging apps, as well as apps designed to support underserved or vulnerable populations, including Indigenous communities, youth, newcomers, and individuals experiencing socioeconomic disadvantage.

Up to five apps will be selected to undergo a comprehensive two-stage review: the ORCHA Baseline Review and the Commission Mental Health App Assessment Framework. The process evaluates apps against Canadian and international standards for clinical safety, data privacy, accessibility, and cultural responsiveness.

Successful applicants will receive funding for the assessment and quality improvement process. Apps that meet the criteria will be awarded the MHCC Assessed© Badge and may be featured in a trusted, expanding ecosystem of digital mental health tools.
